Too early to plan for November?

We are excited to announce that the poults, or baby turkeys are now on the farm, as of July 25. It is interesting to think about the cold weather we might be having around Thanksgiving when it is so hot, but now is the time we need to get those turkeys started growing. They spend a short time in a wagon, then soon graduate to the ground in a shelter. When they are big enough, we will put them out in a hoop house, but with the ends closed in. As they grow too big for a hawk to pick one off, we let them range freely on the pasture beside our house. They delight to run back and forth, almost like waves of turkeys, as they chase their favorite, the grasshoppers.

If you are able to plan that far ahead, now is a good time to order your turkey. We will be selling them first ordered, first served. In any event, we really appreciate all our customers, whether you buy little or much, you bring joy into our lives.

August 15. It has been so hot, we went ahead and moved the turkeys into their hoop house this morning. They were in danger of being overheated living together in a more enclosed area. They enjoy being outdoors.
