Ah, Lovely Autumn has arrived!

It appears the “heat warning” high temperatures have subsided. Isn’t it amazing how the human body copes better in such a small range of temperatures? In any event, it is so lovely and healing to be outside now. And, in spite of some garden plants not doing so well in the heat, the pastures didn’t turn totally brown, as we have seen them do other years. Also, we had a minimum of heat-related poultry deaths. It is well.

Happy turkeys on pasture!

The turkeys are growing fast, they are “adolescents”. And, we have moved them across the farm until they are right outside my kitchen window now, (on the other side of the fence). It is fun to hear their conversation with each other, or to have a conversation with them! They are so friendly, they walk beside me when I drive out the driveway. I remember about three years ago, when Jim was building our home, his hammering would go bang, bang, bang. The turkeys would answer a loud, “Kee-och, kee-och, kee-och!” This would continue until he stopped hammering.

I hope this season holds many joys for you. Remember to order your turkey if you want one this year.

Happy autumn!
