On the Farm, Fall 2021
A few days ago I was sitting at my desk, answering emails and doing “turkey work.” It was a pleasant afternoon, so I had the screen door open, and through it I could hear the gentle gobbling of the turkeys as they spoke to each other. We move them every day, and at that point they were right outside my RV door! They have a way of fluttering in groups, back and forth, a little bit like an ocean wave. (I wonder, do angel’s wings sound like that?)
Between me and the turkeys is the house we are working on, as time and turkeys allow. That day, I would hear Jim working on the upstairs: “bam bam bam.” Immediately the turkeys answered: “gobble gobble gobble!” They carried on a fine conversation back and forth, for awhile.
We were losing way too many turkeys to predators, until we took Ruth off maternity leave. Since she has started faithfully guarding them, we haven’t lost any.
I am asking anyone who can, to please enter your turkey orders on our website order form. I still get overwhelmed easily. Thank you!
We are hoping all of you have a blessed Thanksgiving, whether it is with our turkey or not.
